As a child I was
intrigued by my fathers drawings he had sent home to my mother before I was
born. He served in the military and was hospitalized. To pass the time he would
send drawings home to my mother.
One day, I had
collected these drawings and began to study them and would trace them from time
to time. My father had seen this interest and provided me with all types of
tools for drawing and from that point on I knew where I was
headed!
All through out
high school I competed in competitions, wining numerous awards in illustration.
I won several gold keys and a hallmark nominee award.....and had a portrait
displayed in the Capitol Rotunda in Washington DC. (Thanks
Mr.E)
I received a
scholarship to the art institute of Pittsburgh where I attended for a short
period of time. When I returned home, looking for a job, I found a gentleman,
John Dalton of Johns Custom art center who at that time knew not what he
was about to teach me was where the rest of my career life would be
emerged!!!!!
He taught me
airbrushing and an art form of detailing techniques like I never
seen!!!!!
He took me in
under his wing and flooded me with his knowledge...knowing one day his venture
would take him in a different direction.
He left the area
and I began flying solo with Denise Moyers STATE OF-THE-ART
DESIGN and that was 21 years ago!
In those early
years I started doing signs for contractors. lettering vans and company trucks
. Then I followed in with more pictorial work with the contractor
designs.
I was then
contacted by a few local body shops for mural work. This got my attention
focusing more on murals. Two friends of mine who raced drag bikes had me paint
their bikes and that sparked my interest for motorcycles, which is now 75% of
my workload.
Over the years
Ive done an array of projects ranging from portraits to hand painted
mirrors, things that roll, things that fly and things that just plain sit
still!
I strive for
perfection, creating one of a kind realistic theme based
ideas.
I feel my business
is growing and reaching its level of success because I consider myself as the
customer....when I take on a project, I put myself in their shoes and look for
the most detailed, exciting end result, so when the customer leaves, he is
speechless. With my high standard as the cornerstone, I try to comply with what
I think the client would like to have presented to them...always focusing on
realism.
Ive truly
come to learn that hands on experience is the best teacher. No matter how many
mistakes you make, they can be some of the best results. It is not always an
easy road to be on, but if you truly love what you are doing ......hang in
there and grow with each experience. Its all worth it when you see your
product having crowds of people around just studying your work saying how
did they do that?
To me, it is a God
given talent to produce works of art that fulfill the senses of on lookers, it
is one of the greatest rewards of this profession!
Many Thankx to, my husband Jesse, Babette, Swish and Dennis for all
youre help! And to John Dalton for the incredible man and teacher he
is!!
